Driven by new product development and customer service

Charles Edison, the son of inventor Thomas Edison, founded Sag Harbor Industries in 1946. Sag Harbor Industries is a contract manufacturer of custom electronic assemblies for OEM customers. Products manufactured in the Sag Harbor, NY and Farmville, NC facilities include motor windings, solenoids, stators, and voice coils for headsets. Satellite communication gear and sub-assemblies are produced in a “clean room” environment. The automated Printed Circuit Board department completely assembles for both “through hole” and “surface mount” circuit board technologies.

Dortronics Systems became a wholly owned subsidiary of Sag Harbor Industries in 1990. Dortronics Systems, Inc. now operates out of the Sag Harbor Industries facility on Long Island and manufactures electric locking hardware and controls for the Security, Hardware, and Door control industries.

Quick Ship Response

With the in-house capability to provide electronic assembly, coil winding, molding, and fabrication for large and small quantities, we are uniquely equipped to serve the security systems integrator. Local vendors with whom we have worked closely for many years handle custom metal fabrication and finishing. This provides the flexibility needed to react quickly to any customer’s requirements.

We typically ship orders same day, even locks and hardware in anodized, chrome or brass finishes. This is possible as a result of our sizeable on-the-shelf inventory. The finished product inventory is backed-up by a large supply of sub-assemblies. This gives us the ability to rapidly customize and ship requests for non-standard products.

Innovative Solutions

We have inherited the OEM contract manufacturer attitude from our parent company and welcome requests from our customers for products to meet special needs. Dortronics Systems introduces five to six new products each year. These devices are usually developed as a result of customer requests for a solution to an application problem. In addition our engineering department continually monitors the latest technical advances looking for ways to improve and enhance our existing products.

Customer Support

Dortronic’s customer relation staff is cross-trained to provide the easiest friendliest interface with our customers. We encourage our customers to utilize our toll free “800” number for information requests, placing orders, checking order status, or technical support. No need to remember extension numbers or employees for different departments, the Dortronics employee who answers will attempt to assist the caller. If our customer service person determines that the caller would be best helped by another department (engineering, accounting, etc.) they will communicate your needs and transfer you to the appropriate party.

Dortronics Systems field sales staff are independent manufacturer’s representatives, specializing in access control products for the Security industry. This group provides sales coverage for all fifty states; International sales are handled through the main office. Training of sales representatives is provided by factory personnel working with the representatives in the field, as well as factory training seminars. Customer training sessions are held frequently by both factory and field sales persons.

Our marketing philosophy is to involve everyone from the top to the bottom. Both our inside sales staff and the field sales representatives are providing feedback from our customers as to what they want. From this information we develop new products and market programs.

Dortronics exhibits the latest innovations in electronic security hardware at major security trade shows and seminars throughout the year.

"We proudly stand behind every one of our products through our customer service, product dependability, and Quality product warranty." John FitzPatrick, President.
